Newsletter 15-February-2015

Here, just before the beginning of Lent, we pause for a divine encounter and a response of human devotion and rededication. Our sense of our mission, courage, and of love and gratitude to God and those people who have preceded us in life and faith – some famous, some known only to those who loved them – is renewed.
NEXT WEEK:
Sunday Worship: 22 February 2015
Theme: "Into the Wilderness"
Focus Scripture: Mark 1: 9-15
Other Readings: Psalm 25:1-10, 1 Peter 3:18-22

CHURCH NOTICES AND EVENTS:
Ash Wednesday Service:- Wednesday 18th February will be Ash Wednesday this year. We will mark the beginning of Lent with a worship service at 7:00 pm. Ash Wednesday is a time when we are invited to stay with the betrayals of our hopes for ourselves – the moments when we failed to hold to our commitment to the Christ who walks ahead of us on the way. We contrast the moments when we cheered on the godliness in the world as on Palm Sunday and the times when we failed to do that. We see and touch the ashes of those hopes as we acknowledge and grieve our profound humanness.
